if you know anything about jasper hearts wren, you know that we seem to always be talking about unique LA, but today is a little different. yah, yah, yah, we'll be participating in their 5th annual spring show this weekend (mother's day!). and yah, yah, like the past shows it features hundreds of made-in-the-usa designers with clothing, jewelry, stationery, and even food and drinks. yes, its beautifully curated so you'll be wowed by booth after booth and table after table of creatively designed and displayed products. and yes, of course they are still great at throwing a party - there is always a DIY area, free drinks, a photo booth, a free tote bag, and no telling what else this year! we know, you get it!

but today we want to take a sec to mention the creator of the event and founder of Unique USA.

Sonja Rasula, Unique USA

when we first starting doing these events, we always wondered how Sonja Rasula did it. she puts together these huge consumer fairs and the kicker is, customers show up.  lots of customers. like more than 20,000 at each event. and you know what that means? vendors are successful. like to the tune of $1.5M per event, collectively. and customers are excited to have a giant mall-type shopping area without all the gap and panda express.

Sonja set out to create a consumer space that showcased up-and-coming designers that make product locally. she wanted to create a world in which artisans could make money from their craft. her business model also places importance on growing the local economy and teaching shoppers to buy in a socially and environmentally conscious way. she totally nailed it. all the while managing to give back to the community (they've donated close to $30,000 to date). jasper hearts wren, for one, is very, very grateful!

we'll be heading to LA again this weekend to participate in the 5th annual UNIQUE LA holiday show! if you are anywhere near LA it really is worth a visit. 

$10 gets you unlimited entry both days (kids 12 and under are free), a tote bag, endless vendors all made in the USA, free drinks, DIY workshops, and tons of great food and treat booths. 

to sweeten the deal even more, 10% of all ticket sales are going to Inner-City Arts, a downtown LA non-profit providing kids with access to extensive art programs including visual art, drama, film production, graphic design, and music to name a few.

so grab a drink, get in the gifting mood, and feel good about supporting local artisans and the budding artists at Inner-City Arts.

Unique SF!

JHW is going to be at the first ever Unique SF event this weekend. the LA version is amazing, so i'm sure it will be great. lots of curated booths/tables, DIY crafts, free drinks, photo booth, food, etc. AND a portion ticket sales goes to 826 Valenica - so it's almost like you are a jerk if you don't come. the official details:

WHEN: june 30 & july 1 (saturday & sunday) // 11am – 6pm
WHERE: the concourse exhibition center’s east hall in the design district (620 7th Street, at Brannan)
COST: $10 at the door or pre-sale online, wristbands are good for re-entry both days – 10% of all ticket sales go to the fantastic local non-profit organization 826 Valencia. (kids 12 and under are free)

826 Valencia is a non-profit dedicated to supporting students ages 6-18 with their writing skills. 

we're total posers

we don't live in LA, nor do we work in LA, but somehow we were lucky enough to be one of the vendors invited to sell in Unique LA's Local Love Event.  we recently participated in their holiday show and were blown away.  it is hands down the best consumer market we've ever worked.  the caliber of artists was amazing and honestly it was hard to fight the desire to roam the aisles all day.  every booth and table display is the height of hip design and the product offering is unparallelled.

if you are in the area or want to be, come check it out! its only $10 to get in (kids 12 and under are free).  if great products and a good time don't convice you, there are also free drinks. and celebrities. yes, that is 'glen' from the walking dead. no, i'm not proud of my outfit.

We're Unique!

We're like two happy palm trees, swaying in the sunshine. We just found out that we're going to Los Angeles for an incredible 2 day Holiday shopping event called Unique LA. 

It's being held at the California Market Center on December 3 + 4. Billed as the largest indie design/art/craft show in the country, we were lucky enough to be one of the 300 designers chosen to exhibit.
