not a lot coming from Jasper Hearts Wren lately.  been slacking off.  well, sort of.  there's nothing like maternity leave to make you realize that when you run your own company, there's no such thing as maternity leave! meet Fox, the newest addition to the team:

but now, back to work.  this sunday, Jasper Hearts Wren will be in Hayes Valley for another Urban Air Market.  as a special treat, JHW co-founder, Heather Jennings, will be working the booth this time around.  she's been super busy with Poppy Haus so swing by and grill her on her latest DIY project, all while picking up those baby shower gifts you've been meaning to buy!

in addition, we'll be getting help from amazing furniture designer and friend Alice Tacheny.  we're trying to convince her to vend at the next UAM so we've roped her into helping out with the booth to drive the point home. you can see her line here, or stop into Peace Industry in SF or Erica Tanov at Marin Country Mart to see some pieces locally.

Unique SF!

JHW is going to be at the first ever Unique SF event this weekend. the LA version is amazing, so i'm sure it will be great. lots of curated booths/tables, DIY crafts, free drinks, photo booth, food, etc. AND a portion ticket sales goes to 826 Valenica - so it's almost like you are a jerk if you don't come. the official details:

WHEN: june 30 & july 1 (saturday & sunday) // 11am – 6pm
WHERE: the concourse exhibition center’s east hall in the design district (620 7th Street, at Brannan)
COST: $10 at the door or pre-sale online, wristbands are good for re-entry both days – 10% of all ticket sales go to the fantastic local non-profit organization 826 Valencia. (kids 12 and under are free)

in honor of father's day, a tribute to my dad.

i have the best dad in the world.  no, seriously, independent consultants were hired, the third party research is in, and he has officially been awarded the title of #1 dad, literally.

being great at everything makes it hard to pick out his best traits.  in a nutshell: great husband, great father, excellent furniture maker, pool shark, prime rib aficionado, and DIY master.  car trouble? no problem, let's just tinker around in there until it's fixed. shattered ceramic vase? no problem, superglue-ing 80,000 pieces back together won't take too long. moving? of course he's free to help.

it's no wonder that i went out and found myself an excellent husband and father to be my partner, am passionate about meat, and have chosen a career in which i literally DIY myself into awesome boutiques around the country.

i recently rediscovered this video of my dad teaching me to ride a bike.  it is seven levels of awesome.  i'm riding a yellow banana seat bike that he rebuilt from a rusted junkyard cast-off. i'm wearing an erik estrada t-shirt (not to mention white socks and sandals) and my dad is running all around behind me, looking cool as always, assuring me he's holding on as i unknowingly zip around by myself. and that's my brother hamming it up on our papa's schwinn, which coincidentally was given to me to take to college, was immediately stolen, and then found two years later stripped and wrecked (oh, davis, you were hard on bikes).

today's for you, dad. 
you were taken way too young.
i miss you everyday.
