bike club

remember that video i posted for father's day? it's me learning to ride a bike with my dad chasing behind me in all his early 80's glory. i've always loved that memory, as well as that video, and i assumed that teaching my own kid to ride would be a similarly glorious moment of moving parental victory captured on stylized video.

instead i went on a bachelorette camping trip and got a call the first day i was gone stating that wren suddenly started riding a two-wheeler.  turns out wren got a few tips from our biker friend, jason, and was off.

by the time i got home a few days later, she was pretty set.  she was very excited to show off her new talents, and as our back patio is small and her bike is even smaller, she looked like a circus bear on a tiny bike riding around and around in quick circles.  we have since raised the seat up so she doesn't look like a giant, but it is shocking to see she'll be on a bigger bike in weeks.

while i was off roasting marshmallows and sipping whiskey i missed my moment. lucky for you, blogs are all about engineering moments.  here's a stylized video of wren demonstrating her bike skills.  i stopped short of running behind her to fake some amazing parenting, not that it didn't cross my mind.
